FOUNDATIONS OF HEALING

What is it?

The Foundations of Healing program is designed to offer additional support and resourcing to clients prior to or alongside their trauma processing therapy. This program aims to support individuals in developing emotional regulation tools and provide psycho-education around trauma and its impacts.

Two Dried Leaves

Healing and Beyond is a therapy group that aims to:

  • provide a space for you to explore how things are going post-therapy

  • provide a space to develop and review skills that you've worked on with your Saffron therapist

Currently this group is being held through a secure online video platform.

Sessions are currently on the first Wednesday of every month 6pm-7:30pm

Scope of the Program

This program is delivered by our team of Trauma RecoverySupport Workers (TRSW). They are trained to assist you in finding coping strategies that work best for you in working towards your personal goals for this program. They are not trained in trauma processing, and as such, it is important that your Foundations of Healing sessions are focused on your current symptoms and goals, and not on your personal trauma history. While it is common to want to share pieces of your story during your work in the Foundations of Healing program, it is important to understand that your TRSW is nota licensed therapist and does not have the necessary training needed to safely support you through any trauma processing. It is for this reason that if you were to share detailed accounts of your trauma, your TRSW would then be working with you in session to redirect the conversation and bring you back to a place of safety, within the scope of this program.

How?

If you decide you would like to participate in this program, you will need to complete a brief 15-30 minute screening to assess whether this program would be a good fit for you in your healing journey. During this screening, you and a TSRW will have the opportunity to assess what format would work best for you and your needs. If needed, this can also look like attending both the individual and group format either simultaneously or one after the completion of the other.

The goal of this program is to ensure you are able to get the most out of your 20 sessions in the Seeds of Healing (trauma processing) counselling program. Your TRSW’s will assist you in strengthening existing coping tools and developing new ones to help manage your present/everyday symptoms and reactions. This can help you to feel and be more prepared to enter the Seeds of Healing program.
