Contract Therapist

Saffron Sexual Assault Centre, located in Sherwood Park AB, is looking to hire a compassionate and skilled Registered Psychologist or Registered Clinical Social Worker to join our counselling team!


Saffron Centre is a non-profit charitable organization offering counselling services to survivors of sexual trauma. Saffron offers therapists the opportunity to provide quality counselling services through insurance or on a sliding fee scale to clients who may not be able to afford trauma-informed counselling.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be currently covered under the Health Professions Act with either a Registered Psychologist (R Psych) or Clinical Social Worker (CSW) designation and hold registration in good standing with their licensing body.

  • Knowledge, and skills in counselling adult, teen, and/ or child (4 years and up) survivors of sexual violence.

    • Training and experience using mind-body therapies is an asset to this position (e.g. Mindfulness, MBSR, SRT, Hakomi, DBT, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, etc.). Psychologists and Clinical Social Workers trained in using Play Therapy or expressive arts with traumatized clients are also encouraged to apply.

  • Must have a passion for providing accessible, quality, trauma-informed counselling in an environment of diversity and inclusion.

  • Registration (or eligible to be registered) as a Mental Health provider with First Nations and Inuit Health Branch are a requirement for this position.

  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check, Children’s Services Intervention Record check, and professional liability insurance are all required.

  • Proof of full vaccination for COVID-19

  • This contract therapist position offers the flexibility of days, evenings and Saturdays; we are asking for a commitment of up to 30 hours per week. This may include a blend of both telehealth and in-person therapy.

  • Professional Development funds may be made available to contract therapists subject to funding. 

  • With a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, this position may be eligible for enrolment in the Group Benefit Plan.
